Amanda Briskin-Rettig is an Australian-born designer, author of one of the country’s most successful fashion stories and the formidable creative impetus behind label A-ESQUE.
In 1996, Amanda founded accessories giant Mimco, and built the brand into a fashion powerhouse over twelve years prior to its sale in 2007.
In 2013 inspired afresh, Briskin-Rettig launched A-ESQUE. The label celebrates a rational approach to design that champions traditional artisan skills, high- quality materials, and a functional aesthetic.
Accolades to date include the recipient of Young Hero Award for Business, winner of Prix de Marie Claire Award as Australia’s leading fashion accessory brand and induction into Australian Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame.
Amanda’s experience establishing a scalable brand is evidenced not only by the success and expansion of Mimco, but by the steady growth of A-ESQUE to date and its clear vision of how to propel further growth.
Mimco’s success demonstrates Amanda’s capacity to build and run a highly successful brand with strong brand awareness, a global customer base and an impressive volume of loyal customers.
A-ESQUES has an entirely new brand identity, language and aesthetic, already widely recognisable yet still maintaining its boutique and bespoke feel.
A-ESQUE has strong plans and systems in place to ensure its current trajectory and growth strategy remains steady, protected and transferrable.
In the years since A-ESQUE’s inception, Amanda – with many years of design experience, and proven commercial know-how – has built and leads a team of highly skilled professionals, comprising craftspeople, product designers and patternmakers as well as retail and finance teams, graphic designers and other creatives.
